‘The karate kid’ film review by Dominique

A wonderful classic filled with action romance and… Karate!
‘Karate kid’ is definitely a great movie. Though it is outdated and replaced by a new revised movie, the film is timeless. ‘Karate kid’ is very realistic, funny and overall, a wonderful movie to enjoy with the family.
I personally enjoy love the simplicity of the film. It is straightforward and will guarantee many laughs on the couch. The main character, Daniel, moves into sunny California with his mother to start a new life. Daniel quickly finds friends but loses them in a fight with Johnnie, a rich, selfish young man who is violent as Daniel is caring. They become enemies and Daniel continually gets beaten up from Johnnie’s gang. During one of these fights Mr. Miyagi, the handy man, rescues Daniel with his secret weapon, karate. Mr. Miyagi teaches Daniel karate to restore Daniel’s peace and pride. Will they succeed?
‘Karate kid’ is very realistic. It confronts many problems we find even in this modern age. Daniel wanted to fit in, be safe and go out with Ali. Daniel has common teenage troubles we experience today. Mr. Miyagi also had problems; he lost his wife and child and was treated disrespectfully on many occasions. This continues till they find a balance.
The actors in ‘Karate kid ‘knew what they needed to do and did it well. They each added new depth, meaning and skill to the ‘Karate kid’. In particular, Ralph macchio (Daniel larusso), Pat morita (Mr. Miyagi) and Elisabeth shue (Ali mills) shine in this film. They all add to the realism of the film.
‘Karate kid’ has several valuable lessons to be learnt. ‘Karate kid ‘shows how we can use everything around us to help us overcome our problems. Daniel cannot believe how waxing, painting and sanding can help him learn karate and will the tournament but Mr. Miyagi shows him how it all strengthens him.
I also feel the movie is outdated. The music would’ve been popular in our times but nowadays, the songs are ‘old school’. For example, the music in the final fight scene is an old rock song with the lyrics ‘I’m the best’. It seems ancient compared to our music today.
Apart from that, I feel that ‘Karate kid’ is wonderful and should be continued watched. I recommend it to any karate fan, families or anyone who enjoys watching classics on rainy days. ‘Karate kid ‘is timeless and if you don’t believe me go watch it again and don’t tell me you didn’t laugh once!
Karate Kid – Film Review by Ben Hart
Karate kid is one of the best fighting movies ever.
I liked the fighting scenes because there is a lot of action. The music makes it even better as it matches the actions in the film. So if there if a fight scene the music tends to be loud, fast and racy. It makes you feel excited about what is going to happen.
I hate Johnny because he is so mean to people and he hurts people. He is not a very nice person. He is a bully. He tries to pick on people who he thinks will not fight back and this makes him look good in the eyes of his friends.
I don’t like the Sensei because he promotes violence. He thinks dirty tricks and winning at all costs is the only thing that matters. He is not a good role model for young children.
Mr Migayi is a good Sensei because he is nice, generous, fair, a hard worker but above all else he really believes in Daniel. He not only teaches him Karate, he teaches him how to treat other people fairly.
I recommend this movie. It teaches you that winning isn’t everything. It also teaches you to treat other people properly and to be fair to everyone. I give this movies 7 stars!
Karate Kid review
Hello my name is Cristian Whelan and this is my opinion on the movie the Karate Kid.
I give the Karate Kid one star
If you want a movie to fall asleep to I’ve got one for you.
The movie Karate Kid a boring movie I almost fell asleep in it. I think that Dora the explorer was more entertaining.
I hated the movie there were too many romantic and boring parts in it. There should be more action movie in it it’s called Karate Kid for a reason it’s supposed to be about karate not love and emotions. The only good parts are when Daniel wins the tournament and when Mr. Miyagi flips the boat and when he is introduced.
Therefore I think that the movie Karate Kid is a boring movie I say that you shouldn’t bother to go see it.

Karate Kid Kicks Butt!
By Gabby Pamandanan
You know those movies, when you expected bigger & better? Well, Karate Kid is one of those movies, I expected way better.
For starters, the story line didn’t even make sense, there too much of Daniel trying to impress Ali, while Johnnie and his gang keep bashing him up. A boy moves to South California, meets a girl (Ali, who’s played by Elizabeth Shue), gets punched up for standing up for the girl, goes to school, tries to impress her, gets bashed for it & thinks that if he learns karate, he can stand up to his bullies (also known as Johnnie & his gang).
After he realized that the bullies go to karate class, he gets punched up yet again by Johnnie and his gang. After countless times of trying to impress the girl and getting bashed by Johnnie, he finds a man named Mr Miyagi (who is played by Pat Morita), who teaches him karate. Mr Miyagi is challenged by the sensei of Johnnie’s karate class, and Daniel has to work harder than ever to at least have a chance of beating Johnnie; but will Daniel be strong enough to overcome his fears?
Also, the music doesn’t really flow with the movie, for instance, the song that was playing when Daniel gets bashed by Johnnie and his gang near the ditch, sounds unrealistic and cheesy. It didn’t really make any sense.
The romance was really not my thing. The blossoming love between Daniel & Ali, but it had the problem of Ali’s parents wanting someone better for their daughter & jealousy of Johnnie wanting Ali back. It was too predictable, it was like any ordinary love story, it was too sappy and tried too hard make you believe of “impossible love”. To me it was just another “Romeo and Juliet” story, just with karate in it.
Although I didn’t really like the movie, I thought the actors were superb. They all played their parts with compassion, especially Mr Miyagi, who is played by Pat Morita. The sad story of losing his new born son and his wife in a concentration camp, while he was at war is all very touching. The care that Daniel’s mother had shown was full of love and thought fullness. The jealousy and anger that Johnnie showed when Ali was falling in love is Daniel was all very believable.
This movie, is full of love, romance, good vs evil, but most of all it’s about standing up to your fears no matter what the cost. It’s about lost and forgiving yourself for things you’ve done, and you weren’t there when you have. I rate this movie 4 stars for its compassion and its actors. Although the movie itself wasn’t good, we can take way a lesson from this movie

The Karate Kid Review
By Michael Preece                                                *******
The Karate Kid was one of the best old karate movies in its time. Explore the detailed story of Daniel LaRusso as he tries to settle in his new life but ends up getting himself in trouble.
As you explore through this story you’ll have music to create a background mood towards the story or events. This can create major feelings towards the emotion.
This movie also stages a lot of different conflict towards different characters in the movie .This provide a more detailed story and interaction between the different characters.
In this movie you can also experience lots of different themes and feelings. Some of the feelings that it can create is action, violence, romance and conflict.
What I don’t like about the karate kid the fact it will take a very long time to get the action started up again after half way. This in turn can start to make the feeling of the movie boring and dull while you wait for the fights to begin.
There was also too much romance in the karate kid. This in turn started to make the movie more of a romance movie then the karate movie that will wreak the movie.
It also doesn’t give that much of a detailed background for the main characters. This ends up making a very confusing movie that gives you a limited understanding such as where’s Daniels dad?
In conclusion if you are into teenage romance then you will like this movie because it is fighting for the girl. But if you like action it wouldn’t be as impressive as you’ll think. If hate both of these types of movies avoided at all cost.

Karate Kid 1984 Film Review
Fighting takes over! Rachel Banzer 9/11/12
8 stars
This movie, the karate kid is a wonderful family movie especially if you like fighting!
What I personally like about this movie is that there were green screens but they were not noticeable. In the scene where Mr. Miyagi was on the post and balancing and doing all sorts of kicks and the background looked completely real.
Secondly, what I liked was that Johnny (William Zabka), Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Ali (Elizabeth Shue) did a great job of acting, especially at the final fight scene when Daniel did the crane, Daniel was in pain and did a great job at acting that and Johnny’s face expressions when he got kicked.
Thirdly, I also think that the make – up was great when Daniel was going to leave for his first day at his new school and his face/eye was bruised from when he got beat up the first time.
My first dislike about this film was the sensei, he loves himself too much and all around his Cobra Martial Arts Centre, he has pictures of himself. He also is VERY hard/strict on his students.
My second and last dislike about this movie was the music, we all know that this movie was made in the 80’s, so; you would expect 80’s kind of music. Personally, I don’t like 80’s music, so I didn’t like the music in this movie.
To conclude, this movie is a very good family movie with lots of fighting. So, if you are a fighting person, you WILL LOVE this movie.
The Karate Kid…Meh
By Jarrod Furey   Rating:JJJJJ
The Karate Kid was an alright movie for its day, but these days I would rather see a movie like the Paranormal Activity Trilogy or Ted.
One thing that I disliked about the movie was that at some points there were some acting errors such as when Johnny hits Daniel in the leg in the final fight scene, he gets up with pain in his eyes but when the fight starts up again and he is walking fine.
Another thing that I didn’t like is when people keep on repeating the same sayings over and over again. For example, when Mr. Miyagi is training Daniel, he keeps on repeating words such as ‘Wax on Wax off’. I just didn’t find that very amusing.
For one though, I did enjoy the choice of actors for the movie such as William Zabka as Johnny and Ralph Machiro as Daniel. These actors played big parts throughout the movie without making any many mistakes. This made me enjoy this movie a bit more.
The reason that I have given a rating of 5 out of 10 to this movie is because the actors were great. Although there were a few faults I rate this a 5 out of 10.
Thankyou!
Karate Kid the worst movie EVER!
My first reason to completely despise this movie is the acting. Personally I thought it could have been so much better. There was just no effort in the movie! For example in the scene with Mr. Miyagi saving Daniel from the bullies, he jumped the fence to fight against the bullies. Then after the fight he took Daniel through the gate which was unlocked the whole time.  Like seriously, why didn’t he just go through the gate to begin with.  It would have saved so much time and effort that he would have needed for the fight.
My second reason to dislike the movie is because of the costumes on word Pathetic! All of the other dojo masters had there suits on but not Mr. Miyagi he was just wearing a plaid shirt. And all of the clothes that the actors wore were so out of date, I think I can honestly say that I don’t see people wearing most of the stuff that the actors wore walking around the square.
Also the movie was very old so I didn’t really like the graphics and the sound effects were pathetic. It was really quite annoying when Johnnie punched Daniel and the punching sound came in after Johnnie had already taken his hand away.
Another thing I disliked was the way Daniels mother acted I mean I don’t know anyone who’s mum would nag them to show her there baby blues. I know that she was very caring but I think she was trying too hard to be a friend and not a mother and although she was a caring mother she was also too enthusiastic about it.
If I were to give this movie a rate out of ten stars ********** I would only give them a half of a star and that half came from the fact that there was an end to the movie. I do realize that I am being kina harsh but the movie was also kind of harsh………………… on me I loathed watching it.
And my last point in the last few scenes Daniel had a foul done on his leg and although he had major damage to his leg he still pout most of his weight on his leg just goes to show that I was right when I said that the acting was really bad.
So in conclusion if you want to see a movie that will put you to sleep in the first half, a movie with bad acting skills and a bad romance and a film that is so annoying that you’ll want to run out of the cinema and was your eyes out then karate kid is the movie for you.
