Joel’s Narrative: Mt Everest
By Joel Dawson
It was July 21st 2011, this was the day I climbed Mt Everest. It was the coldest day of the year breaking the record.
Throughout the day it didn’t strike above 5 degrees Celsius, but nothing was stopping me now. I’ve trained for this day for years and I’m not putting it off another day.
This day is really important to me as I feel that I haven’t achieved many big things in my life and when I’m finished climbing I will feel like I’ve accomplished something in my life, something extraordinary.
I am going up with a group, if I didn’t that just wouldn’t be smart as I may get in trouble as this is my first time climbing. As my team and I meet at 5:30am at the base camp our journey begins.
As we start to climb we meet up with some Sherpa’s that have climbed Mt Everest before and we asked them to join us on the magnificent journey.as my team, the Sherpa’s and I started climbing I started to get some nerves but the Sherpa’s told me all their experiences climbing and if someone gets sick how to treat them and what would happen.
I agreed to climb because if I didn’t all those years of training would be for nothing.as my team, the Sherpa’s and I had reached a quarter of the way from the top. I was feeling pretty good and not tired, but the Sherpa’s insisted that we took a break.
As we start to get going we find a gap in the mountain that was a big gap to jump. We find a ladder buried in the snow and it fits over the gap just less than a meter.
As we climb over the gap with the ladder climbed flat, John’s foot (one of the Sherpa’s) fell through the gap of the ladder. Luckily he has trained also and knows what to do.
All of my team has made it over the ladder; we continue this hard journey to Mt Everest. My team and I have discovered a dead body close to the top of Mt Everest. It was a young man and he was pale blue.
We notified the police and they sent a helicopter, they declared him dead and they think he’s been dead for at least 8 hrs. As they take his body away the police ask us if we wanted a lift to the top we declined because we knew we could do it ourselves. The end of the journey, July 25th 2011 the day I finished climbing Mt Everest.

The Day I Climbed Mt Everest
By Rachel Banzer
It was the 21st of July 2011 this was the day I climbed Mt Everest.
The day, it was the day Friday the day after my birthday, I have been training for this my whole life. Well since I was 13 anyway. I was always practicing every day until the 20th of July, my birthday, I was turning 20. This was the best day of my life, tomorrow was ‘THE’ day to climb MT Everest.
Hi, my name is Natalie laden and I am 20 years old and about to climb MT EVEREST! My parents name is john and Adelaide laden. I also have two brothers and one sister. My brother’s names are Liam and Noah they are both older than me and my sisters name is Claire she is younger than me. Noah’s age is 23 and loams age is 25 Claire is 18.
I am going on this climb to get some money. I saw a little girl in the hospital when I went there 2 days ago, she had cancer. She was white as snow and had no hair left I saw her when I went to see my cousin who broke her arm. It uses to hurt her but she doesn’t care about it anymore. So I want to get money for the little girl with cancer who I don’t even know. Let’s climb!
I can’t wait in going with three other people Chelsea, matt and Andrew. They are all very excited. I’m at the base camp and it’s cold, really cold because we are right in the middle of winter. I start to regret this, no, I can’t. I have been training for 7 years I can’t back out now we are already there at Mt Everest. Ok, I am puffing, breathing heavily, can’t breathe! This is like hell on earth! I’m going to die! “No!!” Chelsea yelled. Idealized I was falling down Mt Everest.
After I was rescued we set up camp, halfway. Well I told you I couldn’t breathe? I lose my memory, great! Wonderful! I could feel my heart slowing down, “I know in going to die some time in my life” I said to matt “ not today “ said the rescue team, his name was Chris, Christopher, WOW! Am I dying? I think I can see and angel with blond hair and brown eyes, WOW, I haven’t seen that before! Ok, was I well I was ok? I was only out of oxygen? The angel saved me! Yay! Alright you’re ok, said Chris. So we started walking again, wow!
I count believe it we’re at the summit! Ok, WOW! My name was now Natalie Sherpa. Now that little girl can live with no cancer. Still can’t believe it, Natalie Sherpa!

Persuasive Letter Writing: Clean up Mount Everest

Hi Year 7M,

This is the persuasive letter Jarrod Furey wrote in class. Well done Jarrod, thank you for sharing.

Miss McLaughlin

Dear Prime Minister,
My name is Herbert .D. Williamson, and I am writing this letter to inform you about the big piles of rubbish on Mount Everest.
The people of Nepal have told me that it is the tourists that have been leaving their rubbish upon the beautiful Mount Everest.
There is no one besides the Sherpa people cleaning up this rubbish and I think that you should ask the people if they can clean up the rubbish that they have spread over the mountain.
People have told me many times before that Mount Everest is the biggest trash pile in the world but we can stop that by just cleaning up the messes that the climbers have dropped.
If we can get people to go on an expedition up Mt. Everest, we could get them to clean on the way like Apa Sherpa. If this doesn’t happen and no one cleans Mt. Everest, the mountain will be entirely covered with rubbish in future years.
So, could you get some people to help clean Mt. Everest and some supervisors to look over Mt. Everest to make sure that it doesn’t become dirty ever again!
Yours sincerely,
Herbert Williamson.

Blue Mountains
By Gabby Pamandanan

I love the scenery of mountains
Far more then calm seas,
Her majestic blue horizon
Are far greater than these

Her snow white capped peaks
And her ragged edge,
The sun shining dimly
As the birds began to flee

The soft blue light
Dazzling in the sky
Where heaven touches the earth
Is the place where my heart lies

When the wind begins to blow
The mountain song gas begun,
As we stand as a generation
The beauty of the mountain will never be done

Mountains Poem
By Nicholas Robinson

The large Bastian of stone goes above the sky
Its mighty face the colour of steel
Its perilous height will make any man shake
The clouds covering its peak like a grey thundering curtain
The jagged face by the look of a dragon

Steps of stone run up the side, if formed by giants
An eerie green glow emanates from the inside the rock
The smell of rain fills the air
The wet rocks gleam in the little light
As the sun glowed through the cracks
While
The mountain stands
The clouds stay
The rain falls
And the rocks gleam
So the mountain stays

Wow, wasn’t the Blue Mountains fun? It was an amazing day out with lots and lots and lots of stairs. I feel sorry for the person who carved them all! My absolute favourite part was the steepest train in the southern hemisphere it was so scary and fun. The three sisters were the most beautiful rock formation I have ever seen and the story behind it is very interesting you should check it out at http://www.aussie-info.com/places/nsw/bluemts/legend.php hope you enjoyed it!
